MCR – Mindset College Ready (GEAR UP 2024)

The Initiative

In 2024, the Institute for Public School Initiatives (IPSI) was awarded its fourth GEAR UP Partnership grant from the U.S. Department of Education: Mindset College Ready (MCR). This impactful grant supports nearly 5,800 students across 19 campuses in Aldine ISD, Livingston ISD, Coldspring-Oakhurst CISD, and Lufkin ISD. MCR is designed to prepare students for success in college, careers, and beyond through a comprehensive model that includes academic enrichment, educator professional development, and family engagement. In addition to core GEAR UP services, the MCR grant encourages students to develop the mindset and skills needed to navigate their educational paths with confidence and purpose. With a total seven-year investment of $32.2 million, the MCR grant reflects UT’s strong commitment to student achievement and long-term success.
